She's A Little Bit Bob Pontious, I'm A Little Bit More Scared of Electrocution
We didn't forecast this magnitude of rain,
but we did have rain in the forecast.

Well, for those of you in the Midwest, you'd know we got quite a bit of rain today. Much more than expected. Now I'll admit, I've had my fair share of rainy day issues, but none quite so daring as my sister.
My niece informed me of these issues today as my sister noticed a clogged gutter and rain pouring out of it. Instead of waiting for the rain to calm, or the lightning to stop, or perhaps until after she'd had her morning coffee, my sister pulled a complete and total Bob Pontious. That's right, perhaps she is a bit more like our father than I expected. Instead, she put on her ever trusty rain coat, grabbed a metal ladder (note my mention that it was lightning outside), put on her ever practical and I'm sure health and safety certified sandals, climbed the ladder and cleaned the gutters. Wow! That's gutsy! I'm a bit more practical and would likely wait for my husband to come home.
Perhaps the funniest part of this is the email I received from my mother today about how my father was questioning their clogged gutter as well with all this rain. She expressed how surprised she was that he didn't go out in the rain and clean out the gutter. Instead, he stayed inside. I'm sure he would be beaming with pride to know his daughter was being the responsible one and doing her best to insure a dry basement. Call it taking one for the team!
I understand this brought a bit of attention from my sister's neighbors today. After studying the photo my niece was so great to share with me (thanks Allyson) I'm not sure if they were really concerned for her safety or questioning if she had anything on under that raincoat.
Don't worry folks, she gets that kind of practicality from our mother.
