Reason #223: Because My Kid is Smart
You know children are growing up when they start
asking questions that have answers.

It's quite possible I use too many "big words" in front of Madison. Every once-in-a-while she will have a statement with a word thrown in that I know she's heard from me. This just happened the other day.
First, every one of us has colds. It has made for an interesting dynamic in our household as I'm sure we all know the man cold trumps the cold of all colds. Speaking of man colds, has anyone seen the commercial for the medicine that talks about the man cold? I nearly fell out of my chair laughing. Aaron, on the other hand, failed to see the humor. Hmmm....
...I digress. As I was getting ready for work the other morning, I was trying to help Madison get ready for school. I was telling her there are days we just need to be brave and go to school and work, even when we don't feel our best. I'd barely begun my conversation and Madison interrupted me to say, "I get it mom. Sometimes we're feeling less than stellar but we need to just pick ourselves up and say, we can do it. I get it. I get it."
While shocked at what she'd said and realizing I do use the word stellar a lot, I replied, "Maddie, those are very adult words. Where did you learn them?"
"Well mom," she replied, "I am smart you know."
I then proceeded to watch her put her underwear on backwards as she got dressed for school. You win some, you lose some.

On a side note, I want to publicly thank my very good friend who paid me an unexpected visit the other day. I think she was sent to me by some sort of "higher power" to give me a wake up call. Even though she didn't really know that was happening. But because of her (and her visit), I am a better person.
And, speaking of a wake up call, thanks to Kay, who came to work with the biggest smile on her face yesterday all after having chemo. Having a cold pales in comparison to the strength that woman exudes every day!
awesome blog post....just when we think "my life sucks...." a better person puts us in our place! Luv Ya, Happy Early Birthday!!!!!! Heather
