To Worry or Not To Worry

The events of childhood do not pass
but repeat themselves like seasons of the year.

As some of you may have seen on Facebook, I am currently away for a conference.  This is the first time I have been away since Malea was born.  I'll admit, while not having a child screaming or someone calling your name 50 thousand times a day is enticing, I sure do miss my girls too.

Knowing that I haven't been away in a while has led me to wonder what exactly will go on while I am gone?  But then I was reminded of the day Aaron let Madison go to school with her shirt on backwards.  So really, what did I have to worry about?  Well, based on previous trips away, here are a few things to consider:

1.  Happy Meals.  While Happy Meals make daddy really cool in the eyes of Madison and well, Malea will eat anything, they do not make a balanced meal.  I've been known to return from trips only to find many new Happy Meal toys.
2.  Getting Dressed.  Daddy is a stylish guy, but let's just say he's not so good with girl's clothes.  So, I made sure to have already laid out clothing before I left.  I was glad I did so when he shuddered seeing Malea was wearing bib overalls today.  A contraption that I'm sure is foreign to daddy.
3.  Television.  I've often wondered what goes on in the house after I leave for work.  I suspect daddy watches quite a bit of DVR.  I suspect my being gone will lessen that just a bit and possibly raise the cranky level to orange.
4.  Bathing.  Honestly, daddy doesn't do the bath nights and I respect that.  He does loading the dishwasher really well instead.  Thank goodness this is a short trip.

While I'm away, I'm sure things will go on in the house that mommy would never allow!  Mostly because daddy cheated and called on grandma and grandpa DeLashmutt to come visit while I'm gone.  With that, I'm sure the Happy Meal consumption will be considerably less.  Everyone will be dressed and ready and daddy might even get his morning TV time.  And baths will be taken care of by grandma.  Which has led me to ask another question, what IS daddy doing while I'm gone?  We'll just call it "delegating."  At least I can say with a relative amount of certainty that no one will go to school with their clothing on backwards!
