Miss Money Bags
Whoever said money can't buy happiness
simply didn't know where to go shopping.

Many of you may have seen I had a day long Monopoly excursion with Maddie. She saw the game at the local consignment store and it was only a few dollars and after much begging she honestly just wore me down. I am incredibly aware this is a long game (and no, Monopoly Jr was not available), but I also remember begging my brother to play it with me when I was little and loving it when he finally did. So, I gave in.
I must admit, the propensity to be quite a game player comes from my mother. She and I would play cards and various other games quite a bit when I was younger. The other thing I remember is I rarely, if ever, won any of those games. In fact, I distinctly remember the day I finally beat her at canasta. It was June of 1988 to be exact and I believe there was dancing involved. It goes without saying that my mom was good at teaching you how to loose gracefully in a card game and she never, EVER, let you win. You had to earn it.
I have to say, I was shocked by the way Maddie hopped into the game immediately, not buying up properties just because she landed on them. She was quite strategic and before I knew it, she was putting up houses and when I, as the banker, ran low on hundreds, she was more than happy to show me how many she had. I snapped this photo because she reminded me of my mother. Not that my mom would fan out her hundreds or even play a board game however, she would sneak up on you and win the game when you weren't looking. And my little money bags snuck up on me and won this game.
Win or lose, it doesn't really matter. What does matter is that I gave 5 hours of my life to that game, which for a rational, time crunching person like me is pretty big. Next time, I'm hoping she'll settle for a simple game of Uno.
